Mysore, Jan. 16-Ragmilan will present a unique Hindustani flute duet by Ravishankar Mishra and Carl Clements (USA) at Namana Kala Mantapa, Krishnamurthypuram, on January 17 at 5.30 pm.
Carl Clements, a jazz saxophone and bamboo flute player, currently living in New York, is an active performer in the jazz and world music scenes. He is working towards a PhD in Ethno-musicology at the CUNY Graduate Center.
Ravishankar Mishra, a Mysorean, started his flute training from his father Pt. Dinesh Chandra Mishra. He has been performing in various prestigious music platforms and has to his credit six audio CDs. He has been imparting the art of flute playing for over a decade now. He has students from all over the world receiving serious training from him.
Carl Clements and Ravishankar Mishra are disciples of the flute maestro Pt. Nityanand Haldipur of the lineage of Pt. Pannalal Ghosh.
Tabla accompaniment will be provided by Gurumurthy Vaidya from Bangalore, a disciple of Pt. Ravindra Yavagal.
